Inventor Jerome Case founded the business of CASE in Racine, when he started the building of threshing machinery. Later the company gained recognition globally as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. In time, the company grew to become the world's largest producers of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established within the construction machine business. The rapidly began to make road building machinery such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment company through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top manufacturer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the company New Holland during the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising some of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural equipment.
