Forklifts are utilized to lift and move heavy loads, usually in warehouses and construction sites. They are usually found in material handling and other manufacturing industries. There are various types of forklifts utilized for various types of applications.
The main difference between forklifts is the way they are powered. Some use internal combustion motors and some are electrical powered. For carrying heavy loads whilst maintaining low operating costs, electric forklifts are generally the best choice. Electric forklifts are most often found in indoor work environments. Internal combustion forklifts are recommended for outdoor applications.
A fork truck, motorized drive and manual drive are the three types of forklifts. Fork trucks are motorized and have backup alarms and cabs. Motorized drive forklifts normally have a protected seat for the operator. Manual drive forklifts are powered manually.
To be able to avoid tipping, some forklifts are counterbalanced. Other safety features comprise handrails or turntables. Specialty forklifts are available for particular applications. Like for instance, narrow aisle forklifts are designed to work in really tight spaces. Rough-terrain forklifts work well on uneven and rocky surfaces.
