Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Connecticut

Utilize a Pneumatic Forklift
Pneumatic forklifts are common in shipping and warehouse operations. Also known as pump trucks or pallet trucks, they are utilized to move supplies and things around on wooden pallets using metal forks mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight includes a pump which raises the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is intended to be operated by one individual.

To avoid loosing control while lifting heavy loads, pallet trucks should always be operated with care. Machine must be checked prior to operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstacle. Check that the handle smoothly turns. The pallet should be carefully stacked to ensure that nothing will fall off during transportation.

In order to release air in the pump and lower the forks, squeeze the lever located on the inside of the metal loop on the end of the pallet truck's handle. The forks can then be pushed into the slots of the pallet. The forks should be at the center to guarantee even distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Raise the forks from the ground by pumping the handle of the pneumatic lift until the pallet has cleared the ground completely. Do not raise the pallet very high or the forklift can unbalance.

Move the pallet by pulling on the handle and then dragging it behind you. It is really not safe to push the pallet ahead of you because the momentum can cause it to go out of control. Slowly take turns and don't attempt to stop suddenly. Slowly come to a stop, squeeze the lever, and the forks would lower to the ground. Finally, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent place.
